Piedmont Regional Education Program Overview

PREP is a public organization that provides specialized services to nine regional school districts: Charlottesville City, Albemarle, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, and Orange County Public Schools.  PREP is governed by a Board comprised of one School Board member from each of the nine districts.  The PREP executive director  is responsible for the operations and budget.  Within PREP, a Parent Resource Center provides outreach, training and support for parents with students identified as having a disability under Special Education law.

PREP also supports a separate public day school known as Ivy Creek School.   Ivy Creek School resides in a building located within a four school complex.  Ivy Creek School gets its name from the local trail and creek with the same name.

The philosophy of the PREP program is to provide cost effective, quality programming to students with low-incident disabilities by the sharing of resources and personnel. Services provided by PREP are an integral part of the continuum of services provided to disabled students in the region.
